Hungry Hungry

Hungry Hungry - Steel -  40”x40”x12”, 2011

This contraption is a parody of the children's play set “Hungry Hungry Hippos” in which children pound plastic levers and compete to see who's hippo can eat the largest quantity of marbles. Instead of competing for marbles, the users of “Hungry Hungry Heathens” race to be the first one to destroy a piece of artwork in the center of the ring. This ritual sacrifice becomes cathartic as players practice letting go of past successes, failures, or memorabilia.
