Earth Day 2012 - a performance with James Redenbaugh
On April 22, 2012, Earth Day, James Redenbaugh and John Cardone parked MLAB, a converted Winnebago, at the East entrance of Washington Square Park in Manhattan where hundreds had gathered to celebrate the Earth and discuss its future. Using the vehicle's roof as a makeshift stage, the artists took turns reading passages from R. Buckminster Fuller's Critical Path. While one artist read, the other created abstract landscape paintings inspired by the readings. The performance lasted two hours. The artwork was then hung in the gallery inside the converted RV, where the artists welcome passers by to share coffee, free Wi-Fi, and collection of books concerning the future of our planet.
